Profile

The role of education in the development of the Society is of paramount importance, especially in the context of our rural background. It is against this backdrop that S T J Education Society has given prominence to education and has opened more number of High Schools mainly in rural areas nearly half of its Institutions are High Schools.

With the introduction of free and compulsory primary education the demand for good Primary School Teachers' Training Institutions has arisen and with a view to meet this demand S T J Education Society has opened many Teachers' Training Centres one of which is Sri Taralabalu Jagadguru Teachers' Training Centre, Sirigere, started in the year 2004-05. National Council of Teacher Education (NCTE), Southern Regional Office, Bangalore, which is the controlling authority, has granted permission and Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board (KSEEB), Bangalore conducts the examinations.

Those who have passed II PUC (Science and Arts only) with 50% of marks may join this Two years course by passing which one becomes eligible to become elementary school teacher. Apart from theory classes the students will have to undergo practice in teaching and at the end of 2nd year they will be put on 3 months' internship. During the course they will have to practice teaching at the local primary schools, undergo citizenship Training and undertake educational excursion.

Campus & Infrastructure
For the present, Sri Taralabalu Jagadguru Teachers' Training Centre, Sirigere is functioning in the II floor of the sprawling building of M Basavaiah Residential Degree College, one of its sister Institutions. The building is constructed on a vast area of 9 acres 20 guntas of khata No.561 of Sirigere Grama Panchayat.

Intake
The annual intake is 50 students out of which 50% are Government seats. The remaining being the Management quota. The Management fills these seats on the basis of merit with due reservation to different categories as per department regulations. Attempts are being made to enhance the intake of students from 50 to 100 to enable the Society to serve a larger number of students of this rural area.

Eligibility
The Candidate seeking admission to D.Ed course must fulfill the following condition

  • Candidates should be an INDIAN citizen. Candidates should pass the 10+2 course in Karnataka State or equivalent course. Commerse students should be studied at leest two school sbjects for eligibility
  • Any courses like High School(S.S.L.C.), or P.U.C. level Diploma or any other job oriented course passed students are not eligible for D.Ed course.
  • To get admission for D.Ed course the student must have 50% marks in P.U.C. Examination.
  • The S.C/S.T students should have scored minimum 45% marks in the eligibil examination. Catogary I and other backword class students must obay the State Govt. orders regularly.
  • The following documents should be submitted to the office at the time of admission
    • Original Marks Card of the previous examination
    • Original Transfer Certificate
    • Original Caste Certificate except (G.M. Students).

Computer Centre
Knowledge of computers is the need of the hour in the modern world. To keep our students abreast with essential information and technology, Computer education is made a compulsory subject of study. A well-equipped Computer Centre with qualified staff is established to cater to the needs of the students.

The Cource

Scholarships
Scholarships are awarded to the eligible students both by the department and the Management for the deserving. Financial assistance is also arranged through Students Welfare Fund and the Teachers' Benefit Fund of the education department.

Hostel Facilities
The Institution provides separate hostel facilities for Girls and Boys at the college campus. Students are taken care of with discipline and affection. Hygienic wholesome vegetarian food is served at the hostel. A canteen in the campus caters to the needy students.

Library
The Training Centre has a well equipped Library of its own with a sufficient number of books and journals to cater to the needs of the students and staff

Discipline and Conduct
Students are expected to maintain a high standard of discipline both in and out of college campus. They are required to attend the classes regularly and must behave with utmost courtesy at the campus. They have to see that no damage is done to the property of the institution. The students shall be collectively and individually responsible for any loss or damage caused by them to the property.
