Sri Taralabalu Jagadguru Teachers' Training Centre, Sirigere is established by the esteemed educational organization namely, Sri Taralabalu Jagadguru Education Society of Sirigere, which is well-known in Karnataka for its yeoman service in the field of rural education. Under the auspices of this education society more than 218 institutions right from nursery to the Engineering College are successfully serving the cause of rural upliftment spread over 13 districts of the state of Karnataka.

Location

Sirigere is situated on the Poona-Bangalore National Highway No.4. It is at a distance of 227 KM from Bangalore and is located between Chitradurga (27 KM), the District Head Quarters, and Davangere (50 KM). It can be easily recognized while traveling on the National High Way by the presence of a huge sub way at a distance of 20 KMs from Chitradurga. Sirigere is just 6 KMs from this point towards West.

Education Society & Administration

Sri Taralabalu Jagadguru Brihanmath, one of the leading religious and charitable Institutions in South India rendering yeoman service for the upliftment of the mankind in general, established. Sri Taralabalu Jagadguru Education Society of Sirigere in 1962. The Education Society started functioning in the field of education in rural parts and now it is running 218 Institutions spread over 13 districts of the state of Karnataka:–

Nearly 30 thousand students are studying in various schools and colleges of this education society which is one of the biggest private educational organizations in the State. Nearly 6000 students are provided with free boarding and lodging.

The present pontiff of the Brihanmath His Holiness Sri Taralabalu Jagadguru Dr Shivamurthy Shivacharya Mahaswamiji is the present President of the Education Society. His Holiness the Mahaswamiji is a world famous Sanskrit scholar and a great academician with a Ph.D. Degree from the Banaras Hindu University and he has done post-doctoral research at the Indological Institute of the University of Vienna (Austria). Treading the path of his predecessor, the Mahaswamiji has been assiduously striving for educating the rural poor and the downtrodden.

Another special feature of the Society is its administrative set up. The administration of the entire Society is being run in accordance with the democratic pattern. Each Institution is governed by a Local Advisory Committee consisting of the elected members. There is one Governing Council at the Head quarter at Sirigere. The Local Advisory Committees function as representatives of the Governing Council at the top.
